Supplications of Sudan: Check our the amazing things God is doing in Akot, South Sudan

Just Add Water

In the midst of a terrible crop failure and shortage of food, Women of Hope, have a bountiful garden. The ladies ministry of Akot Christian Ministries are able to produce food, when no one else can because of the ability to irrigate. God has provided a powered pump on the ACM compound. Food shortages are common occurrences in South Sudan because of erratic rains. God has provided the land for a farm, a plow and two oxen, and an abundance of seeds. Agriculture will become a priority in the school curriculum. Pray that God will provide a well and powered pump to irrigate.

One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism

On January 23rd, 19 believers were baptized at Abundant Life Compound. Testimonies were given, “the people shared about how amazed they are about all that God has done for them”, says Pastor John Poth. Ministering in Akot for 10 years has produced great fruit, that will last. There are 13 growing healthy churches. Two of these have established church plants, in nearby communities, that are putting down deep roots. Pray that God will provide what is needed to help these churches continue to mature (i.e.ongoing pastor training and a water source at each church).

Training Teachers

In a country where less than 2% of the children complete primary, it is difficult to find people qualified to teach school. Our first primary school, Living Water Primary, started in 2006 with one teacher who had a 7th grade education. God has provided ways for us to increase the education level of our teachers to 12th grade, by various means. Some have begun to teach in areas of vocational skills, while scholarships have been given for others to attend secondary school. Recently, our teachers participated in a one month training taught by a well qualified educator.
