A God Story!

So much is happening all around us constantly. I have learned that God is always working. But most of the time, I am too busy to notice. Can you relate? We have been having a water problem in one of the refugee camps where we have a Living Water CT compound. Not only does our vocational school not have a water source, the whole community has the same issue. We did put in a water collection system with a large cistern, but during the dry months, there is no rain to collect. Last year we had to have the vocational school students walk for several kilometers to fetch water from another well. They were great about taking turns, forfeiting one day per week of instruction, to get water for all the classes. But soon, that distant water source was also out of water. Though we have attempted many times in the past to get permission to put in a borehole, we were never successful. One day, as I was praying about this situation, the Lord brought  Luke 18:1-8 to mind. It is the parable about the persistent widow. If you are not familiar with this parable, it is about a lady who pestered a judge repeatedly about getting justice for her cause. Jesus said, “For a while he (the judge) refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bother me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’ “ verses 4-6.  So I decided this could be an approach that might work for getting permission for the well. I personally was not in the camps, but my good friend, Joyce is there. She took up the challenge. And after a few visits, it worked! Before long we had technicians from a local drilling company come out and do a survey. I was so excited about our finally getting this borehole. However, soon I received notice that the water table was too deep and a hand pump could not be used. It seems we would need a solar powered electric pump. And those are quite expensive. After fretting most of the night about not having the funds for this project, I finally said, “God this is in your hands. this whole ministry was Your idea from the beginning. And this is water, for Pete’s sake.”
In the morning, when I opened my email I saw that I have received a message the night before from a friend, who knew nothing about the water well situation. He said, “We sold some stock and yesterday the funds were deposited in your Living Water CT account.” And guess what?  Drum roll……The amount of the deposit matched the cost of the electric pump!
(
Friends, you just can’t make this stuff up.) Thank you, God!
