Full Speed Ahead: Our Most Impactful Month Yet

Just when I think it can’t get better, it does. Living Water Community Transformation Uganda is b-u-s-y! One of the most exciting ministries yet is our new Bible training center for pastors and church leaders, Timothy Logos Center (TLC).

Class One, Session One began with 34 students on June 16 and ended on July 11. They came from Darfur, Nubia, Congo, South Sudan, Uganda and from many refugee camps in Uganda. The students are from many different tribes, but all voiced the same appreciation for the opportunity to study God’s Word at TLC. I have included one of the many testimonies below. Class One will return on September 15 for Session Two. And a new group, Class Two, will arrive on August 11 for their Session One.

We are beyond excited about all of this, but at the same time a little concerned at the expense of all that is required. I am finding myself reminding God of the promise from Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

I am also encouraged by a quote from one of my favorite heroes of the faith, Hudson Taylor.

Depend on it. God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.” (Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret, by Dr & Mrs Howard Taylor)

Yusuf (not his real name) is a 23 year old Nubian citizen of (north) Sudan. He currently resides in a refugee camp in Juba, South Sudan with others who escaped the war in (north) Sudan. His parents returned to (north) Sudan, but because of the continued insecurity there, Yusuf remained in the refugee camp in Juba. He completed secondary school there and desires to further his education. He is very grateful for the opportunity to study at Timothy Logos Training Center. Yusuf gave his life to Christ in 2020 after hearing the Gospel at a Baptist church in the refugee camp in South Sudan.

He was active in the Bible Club and advanced to becoming a teacher for the children, leading the church choir, and youth programs.

Yusuf says he doesn’t know of any church in his home country in (north) Sudan and he plans to establish a church there after getting equipped at Timothy Logos Training Center. He says he has learned many things already at TLC, such as peaceful ways of solving conflict. He loves the “peace dialogue” exercises that are ongoing in the school, and he hopes to learn much more by the end of his course work there.
