Harvesting Blessings: A Third Quarter Report

Church Ministry

“For the Word of God is alive and active…” Hebrew 4:12.

And He is on the move through our 35 churches in the camps. In August and September there were 120 new professions of faith and 111 baptisms. These churches observed the Lord’s Supper six times in 2 months. A women’s conference and two youth (teenage) conferences were conducted. 195 people with disabilities received food for the month.

Living Water Preschool & Primary School

“Let the little children come to me….” Matthew 9:14.

Living Water Preschool and Primary School is the pride of Belameling Refugee Camp. It is known for its high standards and Christian environment. The 471 children have 22 teachers. In addition, we have a clinical officer (nurse practitioner), bursar, cooks, guards and a cleaner. The pass rate is 97%. Sadly, parents are the most grateful for the daily nutritious meal provided for their children, and the soap for them to take home, as this relieves the pressure on them to try to provide food at home. The students attend a Friday afternoon worship service and the Saturday morning Bible Club that is open for all children living in refugee camp. Nutrition bars, made by the adult graduates of the baking class, are distributed there.

Agriculture Ministry

“For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat….” Matthew 25:35.

The refugees are so thankful for your support for their food production projects. The Lord is blessing your sacrifices. The 100 acres of family farms, the two  children’s farms, and the youth’s farm are harvesting their maize crop now. Some families have already begun planting sorghum. Our new demonstration farm in Morobi Refugee camp is successfully growing many varieties of vegetable. All this produce is sold in markets. One children’s farm is raising chickens.

Business Ministry

“…make it your ambition to lead a quiet life; to be busy with your own business and to work with your own hands, as we told you so that your daily life may win respect from outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

The goal of our business ministry is to empower refugees to attain financial independence. By producing a profit they are able to provide food for their families, pay school fees for children, and afford health services and other basic family necessities. A business training took place in February, June and September. The training included the Word of God and the principles of Christian business ethics. One hundred and twelve adults (mostly women) completed the training. Forty-five entrepreneurs qualified for small loans. Our dedicated ministry accountant trains them, meets with them monthly to encourage, problem solve and pray with them. (She is quite successful at collecting the installments.) The small businesses consist of a variety of activities: small retail shops, shoes, farming, poultry, piggery, tailoring, hair dressing and baked goods.

Timothy Logos Training Center

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. ” 2 Timothy 2:2

Timothy Logos Training Center (TLTC), our new Bible College, is a huge addition to Living Water CT’s mission in Uganda. We are blessed to have a large classroom, dormitory, kitchen, latrines, showers, dining hall, and a guesthouse for visiting professors. It has been a very busy year so far. In June we began the first session for Class One with 34 students. In August we began Class Two session one with 37 students. And in September we held session two for Class One. The second session for Class Two will begin in a week. The students spend one month on campus and have practical assignments to complete in the two months they are at home. Our students come from Sudan, South Sudan, Congo and Uganda. Nearly all live in war-torn areas. Many are displaced and are living in refugee camps. Most of their stories describe great suffering. They hunger for the Word of God, as well as physical food and a safe environment. We have had many professions of faith and baptisms among these church leaders, who come from a variety of church backgrounds. Our curriculum includes English and agriculture.

Please partner with us in this vision to make disciples who will make disciples.
We are striving to produce Christian leaders who will strengthen the Kingdom of God in East Africa, and will “make heaven more crowded”, Charlie Kirk.
